DYER — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a passing train Monday morning in the area of Calumet Avenue and Granite Drive, Dyer Police Chief William Alcott said.
Officers were called out shortly before 9 a.m. for a report of a person struck by a train, Alcott said.
"Upon arrival it was determined that the victim had succumbed to their injuries," he said.
"The victim was transported to the Lake County Coroner's office," Alcott said. "This incident is still under investigation by the Dyer Police Department."
