GARY — Police said Tuesday a black vehicle was seen speeding away after a 20-year-old man's shooting death Nov. 22 in the city's Glen Park section.

Jaymel D. Patterson, 20, of Gary, was found unresponsive about 10:35 p.m. Nov. 22 in a driveway in the 800 block of East 45th Avenue.

Witnesses told police it had been a couple of weeks since they last saw Patterson, whose last known address was on the block.

The witnesses reported hearing gunshots, then looking out a window to see a black vehicle speeding away and a man lying in the driveway, police Lt. Dawn Westerfield said.

Lake County coroner's investigators pronounced Patterson dead at 11:30 p.m. at the scene. His death was ruled a homicide.
