MOROCCO — A traffic stop that turned into a police chase ended in the arrest of a 44-year-old man on numerous drug charges.

Dennis Walker, of Chicago, was pulled over for a moving violation on U.S. 41 near County Road 600 South by a Newton County sheriff's deputy Sunday evening.

When the deputy attempted to speak to Walker, the odor of marijuana emanated from his tan SUV. He was asked to get out of the vehicle, but then fled the scene on foot, throwing various items from his pockets as he went.

Soon, the deputy apprehended Walker and allegedly found more than 65 grams of ecstasy.

Now Walker, who remains in the Newton County Jail, faces charges of dealing a controlled substance, a level 2 felony; possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; obstruction of justice, a level 6 felony; and resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor.
