Griffith Police Chief Greg Mance estimated Friday it would take at least a week for his department to complete its investigation into a fight involving three Hobart police officers.

Mance said after his detectives completed their investigation, he would forward the findings to Hobart Police Chief Rick Zormier, who initially requested the Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force look into the allegations.

Mance, who leads the task force, determined it was outside the task force's purview and instead assigned two of his detectives to conduct the investigation.

He said Friday any information about the alleged misconduct would need to come from Zormier.

"It's an ongoing internal investigation," he said.

The altercation between the officers happened at a private residence in the city while they were off duty, Zormier said Thursday.
