CROWN POINT — A computer allegedly containing child pornography was seized from the Cedar Lake home of a 50-year-old man charged with child molestation, according to court records.

David W. Hatton was charged Aug. 31 in Lake Criminal Court with two counts of child molestation and sexual misconduct with a minor on allegations he sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 14.

Police searched the defendant's former home in the 7500 block of West 142nd Avenue in Cedar Lake as part of that investigation, seizing several computers a witness said might contain pornographic images of children.

An investigator found 76 images and 73 videos of suspected child pornography on one computer's hard drive, records state, which included media that appeared to depict young girls engaged in sexual acts with men.

Hatton was charged Tuesday with four counts of possession of child pornography, all felonies.

Hatton posted a $3,000 cash bond in the child molestation case in October, records state. A warrant was issued Tuesday for his arrest on the new charges.

Hatton is not afforded bond on the new charges, records state.

Hatton's attorney, Andreas Kyres, could not be reached for comment Thursday.
