ST. JOHN — More than 20 unlocked cars were broken into between 1 and 4 a.m. Wednesday in a four-block radius on Oakridge Drive, police said.

Items stolen range from loose change to wallets containing credit cards, Detective Cmdr. Steve Flores said.

The thefts were reported in the 9300 to 9700 blocks of East and West Oakridge Drive, and on 94th Place, 96th Avenue and 97th Lane between East and West Oakridge Drive.

A video sent to police by a resident shows a young, black man searching a vehicle. The man, who was with another male, was seen wearing a hooded jacket. No further description is available, Flores said.

Flores said residents are encouraged to lock their vehicles, especially during the evening.

Anyone with information is asked to call Flores at 219-365-6035.
