Police seek tips about 2 accused of making $1K in fraudulent purchases in Hobart

HOBART — Police are seeking information about two men suspected of using a stolen credit card number to buy more than $1,000 in items from a retail store.

A man contacted Hobart police Jan. 20 to report he still had his credit card, but had recently noticed the unauthorized transactions were made to his account at a store in the 3100 block of East 78th Avenue, Capt. James Gonzales said.

The man was not a member at the store where the purchases occurred.

Police reviewed surveillance video and identified two suspects.

One "appears to be making a fashion statement," because he was wearing brown trendy cowboy boots, a black zip-up jacket, gray skull cap and blue jeans, Gonzales said.

The second suspect was wearing a black zip-up jacket, gray gloves and a baseball style cap that appears to have New Orleans Saints printed on it.

Anyone with information about the men is asked to contact Detective Zachary Crawford by email at or by calling 219-942-4774.

Recent arrests booked into Lake County Jail
