HAMMOND — A robber is at large after getting away with cash from a Hammond bank, police said.

At 11:56 a.m. Saturday officers responded to a robbery at the Regional Federal Credit Union in the 7100 block of Kennedy Avenue in Hammond, Hammond police Lt. Steve Kellogg said.

The robber came to the credit union and gave the teller a note demanding cash, Kellogg said. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured and no weapons were seen during the robbery, Kellogg said.

The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic man about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, witnesses told police.

Police will release additional information when it becomes available. Anyone with information is asked to contact Hammond Police Detective Mike Nemcek at 219-852-2997.
