MICHIGAN CITY — Police say a 19-year-old man was discovered Sunday with a gunshot wound on the city's west side.
The shooting was not a random act of violence and there is no ongoing danger to the community at this time, police said.
Officers with the Michigan City Police Department were dispatched about 4:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of Chicago Street on the city's west side for a report of shots being fired.
A 19-year-old victim sustained an injury that was not life threatening but was transported to Franciscan Health in Michigan City for treatment, police said.
Police ask anyone with information about this incident to contact the lead detective on this case, Lt. Kevin Urbanczyk at 219-874-3221 ext. 1042.
