Teenager among 2 wounded in East Chicago shooting

Crime scene tape surrounded several vehicles and an entrance to an apartment in the 3600 block of Superior Court in East Chicago late Wednesday after a shooting. 

EAST CHICAGO — A teenage boy and a man were wounded in a shooting late Wednesday at the Lakeside Gardens apartment complex in the city's Harbor section, police said.

East Chicago police were dispatched at 7:40 p.m. after the city's ShotSpotter technology detected gunshots in the 3600 block of Guthrie Street, Lt. Marguerite Wilder said. 

While en route, police were told by dispatch that two gunshot victims were in the 3600 block of Superior Court.

Police found a teenage boy and a man suffering from gunshot wounds, Wilder said. 

The pair were taken to St. Catherine Hospital. The boy was treated and released, and the man was transferred to a Chicago hospital, Wilder said.

Police did not know the man's condition Thursday, she said.
