U.S. 30 reopens after crash with injuries

A crash between two commercial vehicles has closed a local stretch of U.S. 30 in LaPorte County.

LAPORTE — A crash between two commercial motor vehicles Monday morning kept a local stretch of U.S. 30 closed for an extended period of time, according to county police.

It’s easy to prevent being a victim of car-related thefts. Here are some steps to help prevent your contents from being stolen from your vehicle.

The crash, which involves injuries, occurred on the highway at the railroad crossing just west of Thompson Street, LaPorte County police said.

Eastbound U.S. 30 was closed to traffic at U.S. 421 and the westbound lanes of the highway were closed at Ind. 39.

The westbound lanes reopened around 2:30 p.m. One of the eastbound lanes remains closed for cleanup, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Motorists are encouraged to be careful in the area or seek out alternative routes of travel, police said.
