CALUMET TOWNSHIP — A suspect was in custody Wednesday following a shooting Tuesday night that left a 46-year-old man dead.

Jermaine Salazar, of the 200 block of North Colfax Street in Calumet Township, was found laying in his driveway suffering from multiple gunshots wounds about 9 p.m., Lake County sheriff's police said.

Sheriff's police responded to the area about 9 p.m. for a report for gunshots, according to a department news release.

Another man arrived at the location before the shooting and argued with Salazar before opening fire, police said.

Salazar was taken to Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Lake County coroner's office. The death was ruled a homicide.

On Tuesday night, police wrapped crime scene tape through the area and placed evidence markers behind a vehicle.
