Charges pending against suspect in Merrillville restaurant burglary

This man is suspected of burglarizing a Merrillville restaurant early Saturday, police said. 

MERRILLVILLE — Police have secured charges against a man accused of burglarizing Gino's Steakhouse, police said Tuesday afternoon. 

Chris L. Rochefort, whose age and last known address were not immediately known, is being held at Lake County jail on a burglary charge, Merrillville Police Detective Sean Buck said in a news release. 

Police on Monday released surveillance images of a man, later identified as Rochefort, who entered Gino's, 600 E. Lincoln Highway, between 4:45 and 5:30 a.m. Saturday and took an undisclosed amount of money from the registers.

Officers canvassed local motels Monday, and a guest at the Deluxe Inn was identified as a suspect, police said.
