HAMMOND — A 23-year-old woman told police she was walking Wednesday night in the 100 block of Highland Street when two men robbed her at gunpoint, police said.

The men demanded everything she had during the robbery about 6:45 p.m. and ran toward State Line Avenue, Lt. Steven Kellogg said.

The men were described as young, black and dressed in dark clothing. It's unknown if the robbery is connected to other recent robberies, police said.

Leon Taylor, 20, of Hammond, was arrested early Monday after a chase that started in Gary's Miller section and ended when police found him hiding in brush near Ogden Dunes. Taylor is a suspect in multiple robberies in South Hammond, Hessville, Gary and an attempted armed robbery in Munster, police said.

Anyone who has information about Wednesday's robbery or surveillance footage is asked to call Detective Sgt. Shawn Ford at 219-852-2998.
