GARY — Three people told police they were wounded in shootings Wednesday night in the city’s Glen Park section.
Police received multiple reports just before 9 p.m. of shots fired in the Glen Park area.
A short time later, a 20-year-old Gary woman arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to her back, Lt. Dawn Westerfield said.
Hospital staff also treated a 19-year-old Gary woman, who appeared to have been hit in the eye with glass shattered in the shooting, she said.
The women told police someone fired gunshots at them while they were seated in a vehicle parked in the 4800 block of Georgia Street, Westerfield said.
The women got a ride to the hospital.
Police located their vehicle at the crime scene on Georgia Street, Westerfield said.
Also about 9 p.m., police were dispatched to a different hospital after a 24-year-old Gary man arrived there with a gunshot wound to his head, Westerfield said.
The man was shot with a small-caliber gun, and his wound was not life-threatening.
The man told police he was shot while walking in the 4200 block of Connecticut Street.
