The Distressed Unit Appeals Board has approved a $100,000 incentive to MGT Consulting for meeting benchmarks relating to graduation rates in the Gary Community School Corp.Â
The bonus, approved on Wednesday, is part of the 2-year, $7.8 million contract DUAB has with the for-profit management firm based in Tampa, Florida.Â
As part of the agreement, MGT is receiving the payment for achieving at least an 82% high school graduation rate during the 2022-23 school year.Â
In total, the contract includes $2.3 million in incentive payments based mostly on meeting academic achievements. Â
DUAB, which oversees state control of Gary schools, has contracted MGT through a subsidiary — Gary Schools Recovery LLC — since the takeover in 2017.
