WESTVILLE — The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning to build a roundabout at U.S. 6 and Ind. 2.
A public hearing is at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 at Westville High School’s cafeteria. Attendees should use Door 2 at the high school, 207 E. Valparaiso St.
INDOT’s preferred alternative would abandon the four-way stop in favor of a single-lane roundabout.
The project includes a curb, gutter and lighting, along with a new detention basin.
INDOT plans to keep access to all nearby properties open during construction.
The first phase will involve construction of the northwest and northeast roundabout approaches. The second phase will involve construction of the southwest and southeast approaches.
The center of the roundabout will be slightly north of the existing intersection’s center to minimize the impact on adjacent properties.
