VALPARAISO — Just a couple weeks after being sworn in as a Porter Superior Court judge, Jeff Clymer has announced plans to run for the seat during next year's mid-term elections.
Clymer said he has formed a campaign committee, which is required of judicial candidates.
Clymer, a Republican, was appointed in late October by Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb to replace retired Porter Superior Court Judge Bill Alexa, a Democrat.
The term is over at the end of next year, which requires Clymer to run to hold on to the seat.
Clymer closed his law office in Valparaiso and began hearing cases in the Valparaiso courthouse in November.
The post is expected to attract other candidates as well because of the short length of time that Clymer will have served.
