Jerry Murawski, left, presents a Roby Speedway collage to Richard M. Lytle, librarian of the history room at the Hammond Public Library.

HAMMOND — Local auto racing historian Jerry Murawski, of Chicago Heights, recently donated a historical Roby Speedway collage to the Suzanne G. Long Local History Room of the Hammond Public Library.

The collage, which contains photos, ads and news stories, gives a quick snapshot of the history of the old Roby Speedway in Hammond, which operated between 1920 and 1936.
