WHEATFIELD | The West Lafayette Schools Education Foundation's recently completed documentary film by jacklinkproductions on public education in Indiana, "Rise Above the Mark," will be showcased at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kankakee Valley High School. The 65-minute film, narrated by award-winning actor Peter Coyote, documents the effects of corporate reforms on public education across the nation. The account features interviews of nationally known experts and highlights poignant interviews with supporters of public education around the state and country as well as testimony from teachers on their struggles. The film is intended to serve as a catalyst to educate the public and kindle a dialogue on what parents, community members. and educators can do to protect their local public schools. A panel  including Ned Speicher, superintendent of the Rensselaer Central School Corp.; Aaron Case – assistant superintendent, Kankakee Valley School Corp.; and Judy Roberts and Susie Kwiatkowski – teachers at Kankakee Valley High School will entertain questions from the audience submitted in advance to ifloyd@kv.k12.in.us. by noon today.
