WHEATFIELD | KV Theatre Kompany's fall musical production of Disney's "High School Musical" explores the notion of cliques and following the status quo versus breaking free of labels.

The show opened last weekend and remaining performances are at 7 p.m. today and Saturday in the Kankakee Valley High School Auditorium, 3923 Ind. 10.

Tickets are $6. For more information, email kvtheatrekompany@gmail.com, text/phone (219) 554-9411 or message at facebook.com/kvtheatrekompany.

Featuring senior Sarah Schaetzel as Gabriella and sophmore Mitchel Calderone as Troy, the story follows the plot of the popular movie musical by the same name, with additional songs for the stage.

The show includes a special appearance by Assistant Principal Guy Skrobul in an effort to join the team effort.

Dubbed as a play-within-a-play by the production team, life lessons will be presented through catchy melodies and familiar high school stereotypical characters, all brought to the stage by students of Kankakee Valley High School.
