Annual fest pays tribute to Gary's Michael Jackson

  • Updated

GARY — It was all things Jackson on Friday at the annual Michael Jackson Tribute.

Sequin-gloved Michael wannabes donned sunglasses, white socks and loafers to get into the spirit of the fest.

The 2016 edition of the annual event, which continues from noon to 8 p.m. today on the Roosevelt High School football field, 730 W. 25th St., is in honor of Katherine Jackson, the matriarch of the Jackson family.

She founded the annual tribute in the family’s hometown following the death in 2009 of the King of Pop.

Today’s highlights include the opening ceremony at noon; the MJ Dance Contest/Singing Contest finalists from 12:35 to 2 p.m.; the Womack Sisters from 5:15 to 5:35 p.m. and Tito Jackson from 7 to 7:45 p.m.

Admission is free.
