CROWN POINT | Five men were charged Friday in connection with the fatal shooting last week of an East Chicago man.

Charged in the death of 29-year-old Daviante Dunham are Chauncey Hackett Jr., 21; Nathan Kincaid, 29; Uther Kincaid, 29; Cameo Samuels, 30; and Fabian Villagomez, 28.

All five were charged with murder, aggravated battery and three counts of aggravated battery.

Dunham was found dead July 21 with a single gunshot wound to the head in a parking lot in the 3500 block of Guthrie Street in East Chicago.

Police responded about 3:30 a.m. to reports of a large fight in the parking lot and found a crowd gathering around Dunham's body, a probable cause affidavit states.

Witnesses told police Dunham had been jumped, stomped and kicked by a group of men before being shot.

Uther Kincaid is alleged to have attacked Dunham from behind, throwing him to the ground. The other man began stomping on Dunham until he stopped moving, the affidavit states.

The group then turned on another man, striking him and throwing a hood over the man's head before he was able to flee, the affidavit states.

Witnesses told police the group then resumed stomping on Dunham.

A woman attempting to help Dunham suffered a broken foot and was treated at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, the affidavit states.
