Fire Training Academy graduates 22 firefighters to serve communities throughout Northwest Indiana

VALPARAISO — Twenty-two new firefighters representing 15 fire departments celebrated the completion of a rigorous six-month training program at the Multi Agency Academic Cooperative (MAAC) Foundation.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, nearly 70 percent of firefighters in the United States are volunteers, saving taxpayers an estimated $139.8 billion per year. These men and women spent nights and weekends, at their own expense, completing the training necessary to become certified.

The graduates include:

  • South Haven Fire Department: Thomas Crawford
  • Morgan Township Fire Department: Zachary Deaver
  • Lincoln Township Fire Department: Carl Fox, Noah Livengood, Alissa Snider
  • Lake Station Fire Department: Kaylee Hans, Jonathan Luellman, Maggie Ralston
  • Lake Dale Fire Department: Jason Kilheeney
  • Cass Clinton Fire Department: Jason Lord
  • Porter Fire Department: Jessica Losurdo
  • Lakes of Four Seasons Fire Department: Crystal Mayer, Michael Wolotka
  • Kouts Fire Department: Lukas Mergenthaler
  • Liberty Township Fire Department: Adrian Morgenstern
  • Washington Township Fire Department: Michael Roesch, Kristen Settele
  • Crown Point Fire-Rescue: Michael Siegle, Jake Vickery
  • Burns Harbor Fire Department: Matthew Strickland
  • North Judson Fire Department: Paul Rains
