GARY | A 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting hours earlier in the 4300 block of West 11th Avenue, police said.

Gary police learned of the shooting after a 27-year-old man walked into a hospital emergency room about 5:20 p.m. after being shot, police said. He was being treated Thursday night, and his condition was not known, police said.

Shortly after the shooting, the Gary Police Department's Top 200 Team arrested the 31-year-old man. He is considered a person of interest, police said.
