GARY | Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana is in the final stages of completing its model home, located on property adjacent to the Habitat ReStore at 6114 W. Ridge Road, Gary.
The model home will provide a visual of an actual Habitat home for potential partner families, while also serving as the administrative offices for the nonprofit agency. Moving the administrative offices to the new structure will offer 700 additional square feet for the ReStore to utilize.
ReStore sales contribute to the affiliate and its operations. The ReStore is well stocked with discontinued, new and used building materials, appliances, home furnishings and more, all marked at daily prices of up to 75 percent off retail.
M&M Roofing, headquartered in Crete, Ill., has donated its time and materials to the model home project.
”M&M has helped tremendously in making this project possible,” Construction Manager Scott Cearing said. “Participating contractors are largely responsible for keeping costs down and their efforts are greatly appreciated.”
Habitat welcomes all volunteers and is in dire need of skilled painters, carpenters, and licensed contractors who are willing to donate their time and/or materials. To volunteer your skills on this project or future projects, contact Cearing, at (219) 923-7265 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for additional details.
The model home completion is set for the first week in February and a home dedication traditionally takes place at the end of each finished build.
