INDIANAPOLIS — Two Lake County institutions were among six winners of energy conservation grants awarded Wednesday by the Indiana Office of Energy Development.

Lake Court House Foundation, Inc., which is restoring Crown Point's old courthouse, was provided $100,000 to overhaul the building's heating and cooling systems to save energy and stabilize building temperature levels.

Tri-Creek School Corp. also is receiving $100,000 to pay for 205 solar panels that will power 86 percent of the new transportation center's annual electricity use and serve as a teaching tool in Lowell schools.

The improvements are expected to save a combined $41,000 a year in energy costs.
