LAKE STATION — Flames were burning through the roof of a house that became fully engulfed Tuesday night.

Lake Station firefighters responded to a house fire at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday at 53 Allen St. in Lake Station, Lake Station Fire Chief Chuck Fazekas said.

When the chief arrived on scene, flames were shooting through the roof of the house. The house was abandoned, and there were no injuries, but the structure is a total loss, Fazekas said.

By 9 p.m., crews were wrapping up the scene and had extinguished the flames.

Lake Station Fire Department, Hobart Fire Department and East Chicago Fire Department were on scene.

An investigation is underway to find the cause of the fire, Fazekas said.
