A jackknifed semitrailer closed three lanes on northbound Interstate 65 near the 73rd Avenue bridge Thursday, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

MERRILLVILLE — A jackknifed semitrailer closed three lanes on northbound Interstate 65 near the 73rd Avenue bridge Thursday, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

INDOT officials said traffic was moving on the inside shoulder, causing a significant backup just north of the 81st Avenue interchange.

The semi was cleared by 1 p.m., with all lanes reopening.
