Lowell Woman's Club plans Pumpkin Fest this weekend

  • 0

LOWELL | "Orange" you glad it's nearly time for the Lowell GFWC/IFC Woman's Club fourth annual Pumpkin Fest?

Join the women for food, pumpkins, a garage sale and a variety of craft booths from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Park, Joe Martin Road and East Commercial Avenue.

"Be the first on your block to decorate your homes for the season and find one-of-a-kind treasures," club spokeswoman Judy Billard said. "Enjoy a hot dog and some sweets while you browse amid the fall leaves and (hopefully) gentle breezes."

The GFWC women will meet and greet visitors with smiles and friendly conversation. Purchases will enable the GFWC to continue supporting community projects such as "Kind News" for Lowell's fifth-graders, art and music scholarships, annual poetry and short story contests, Salvation Army Donut Days, the Lowell Labor Day Parade and senior citizen events.

The club kicked off its new program year with a Sept. 16 meeting at the Lowell Public Library, and Pumpkin Fest preparations were the first agenda item.
