GRIFFITH — Canadian National Railway is handling the investigation into a pedestrian-versus-train incident that occurred Sunday night not far from St. Mary Church's Western Days festival, according to the town's police chief Greg Mance.
Mance said Griffith officers were called to the scene at 5:46 p.m. and made contact with the male victim who "was alert and speaking with officers."
Mance said the man, who is approximately 50 years old, was transported to an area hospital. A witness to the incident is cooperating with investigators, Mance said.
Mance declined to comment on the circumstances of the incident, saying CN is the lead investigating agency.
A spokesman for CN could not immediately be reached for comment.
