MERRILLVILLE | Merrillville Intermediate School celebrated Red Ribbon Week October 23- 31.

This year's programming consisted of daily classroom activities with a focus on substance abuse education and prevention and participation in school and county wide contests. MIS sent in submissions for the Poster Contest and Side Walk Chalk Contest sponsored by the Lake County Substance Abuse Council Prevention Committee.

From the three submitted entries, two MIS students were chosen as overall winners for the poster contest. Hannah Moler was chosen as the 6-12th grade winner and Quiara Dortch was chosen as the 4-5th grade winner.

Students received certificates and also each won a Kindle Fire. Alyssa Arreguin was also chosen as an MIS winner for her excellent poster entry.

Congratulations to all the students who participated, MIS is very proud.
