The Melody Makers of Indiana have been on tour. Forty-one singers from 17 county choruses performed this summer at Bubba’s Restaurant in Savannah, Ga., owned by TV chef Paula Deen’s brother, and St. Mark United Church of Christ in New Albany.

Dan Beam, director of the Kosciuski Chorus, directed the two concerts. Dolores Smolen of Munster represented The Noteables of Lake County, and other Northwest Indiana singers participating were Lana Anderson and Jodie Schlatter, both of Francesville; Joan Stepien and Kathy Allen, both of Knox; and Susie Szynalski, of North Judson.

A day earlier, more than 300 singers from 23 county choruses performed at Elliot Hall of Music at Purdue University in West Lafayette. Scott Buchanan of Indiana State University directed the combined chorus. Ted Arthur, accompanist for the Purdue Glee Club, accompanied chorus.

During the day, individual county choruses performed and were critiqued.
