CROWN POINT | Prosecutors on Monday charged a Hammond man with rape after his DNA matched samples from crimes in other states, according to court records.
Jaime Cordero, 48, is accused of raping a woman in her Munster home in 2002. The woman had finished doing some yardwork when Cordero grabbed her from behind as she went inside the house, court records state.
Cordero threw the woman to the ground, repeatedly slammed her head onto the floor and threatened to kill her before raping her, records state.
The FBI performed DNA analysis on carpeting from the Munster home and found it matched evidence collected after burglaries Cordero committed in October 2011 in Louisiana and in January in Louisiana, records state.
