Watch out for light pole installation on Calumet Avenue

Whalen Arnold of Midwestern Electric collects the broken pieces of a stop light fixture after an SUV colided with the pole at the intersection of Calumet and 45th Avenues in Munster in 2012. The company will install light poles at that intersection today.

Motorists should anticipate delays if they're going to take Calumet Avenue in Munster today.

Midwestern Electric will install light poles by the intersection of 45th Street and Calumet Avenue and also the intersection of crossroads of Calumet Avenue and Ridge Road today, according to the Munster Police Department. The company will try to schedule the work so it's not taking pace during the peak traffic periods at rush hour.

Depending on the destination, alternate north-south routes include Columbia Avenue in Munster, Indianapolis Boulevard in Highland and Burnham Avenue across the state line in Lansing.
