CROWN POINT — Five new squad cars are coming to the Police Department.

The city's Board of Works on Thursday approved the purchase of three 2018 Police Interceptor Sedans from Lake Shore Ford at $28,997 each for a total of $86,991.

They also approved a $33,734 purchase from Lake Shore Ford for a 2018 Police Utility SUV that will serve as the department's new canine vehicle.

A 2018 Chevrolet Silverado purchase from Christenson Chevrolet was also approved. 

Funds for the total purchase price of $153,340 will be taken from regular budgeted funds ($152,000) and the department's federal drug seizure fund ($1,340). 

Additionally, all expenditures for needed equipment for the vehicles will be paid using the drug seizure fund.
