Truck fire

A Dodge Ram is hauled away from the parking lot at Franciscan Health Crown Point Monday. An oxygen tank exploded inside the truck, which damaged the truck and two other vehicles.

CROWN POINT —An oxygen tank inside a Dodge Ram parked outside Franciscan Health hospital exploded Monday, causing a fire that damaged three vehicles, an official said.

Crown Point Fire Rescue was dispatched about 11:20 a.m. to the hospital in the 1200 block of South Main Street, Fire Chief Dave Crane said.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was inside the hospital at the time of the explosion, he said. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

The fire burned the pickup truck and damaged the vehicles parked on either side of it, Crane said.
