Lake County Sheriff filed more than 300 charges against violent and sex offenders

The Lake County Sheriff's Department filed more than 300 charges against violent and sex offenders last year.

HOBART — Police are encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity after several television sets, weapons and clothing were reported stolen Tuesday from a residence in the 400 block of South Liberty Street.

Witnesses told police they saw a blue Chevy Tahoe or Suburban parked at about noon Tuesday in front of the victim's residence, according to Hobart Police Lt. James Gonzales.

Two "light skinned black or Hispanic" men reportedly occupied the vehicle, Gonzales said.

Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the possible suspects involved in Tuesday's burglary.

Anyone with information can and will remain anonymous, Gonzales said. Those with information should contact Lt. James M. Gonzales at 219-942-4405 or by email at jgonzales@cityofhobart.org

"I encourage residents to report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood to the police, regardless of how insignificant you may think it is," Gonzales said. "Residents know their neighborhood better then anyone else and it is incumbent upon each and everyone one of us to strive to keep our neighborhood safe and free from crime."
