About 40 students had the opportunity to visit a working emergency room Monday when Project Outreach and Prevention Against Teen Violence, or POP, spent the day at Methodist Hospital in Gary. 

The students celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day by touring the facility and meeting with medical students and professionals. The hope for POP is to get more minorities involved in the medical field.
