A Portage man injured in a crash on Interstate 80/94 in August died this week at a Chicago-area hospital, records show.

KC Lee Wegner, 32, of Portage, died Tuesday at Loyola University Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Wegner worked in construction and as an entertainer, according to his obituary.

According to Indiana State Police, he was a passenger in a gold 2002 GMC Envoy that hit a wall on Interstate 80/94 just east of the Interstate 65 exit and rolled several times.

Police said the Envoy was driven by Joseph Willis, 43, of Portage, who also was taken to a hospital after the crash. Another passenger also was injured.

A motorcycle ride to help Wegner's family is scheduled to begin at noon Saturday at Malden Oasis Bar & Grill, 394 S. Ind. 49. Events will continue through 11 p.m.

Funeral services for Wegner are scheduled for Monday at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. in Portage. Visitation is from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m.
