Officers determined a vehicle traveling north had struck a pedestrian, St. John Police Chief James Kveton said.

Sulzberger was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:13 a.m., a coroner's release said. No other injuries were reported.

St. John police requested assistance from the Lake County Sheriff's Department accident reconstruction team because of the severity of the injuries, Kveton said. Further details about the crash were not immediately available.
