ST. JOHN — A 37-year-old Cedar Lake man died early Tuesday after he was struck by a vehicle on U.S. 41, officials said.
Robert Sulzberger died from blunt force trauma, according to the Lake County coroner's office.
St. John police responded to the 8900 block of U.S. 41 about 4:25 a.m. Tuesday for a crash with injuries, records show.
Officers determined a vehicle traveling north had struck a pedestrian, St. John Police Chief James Kveton said.
Sulzberger was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:13 a.m., a coroner's release said. No other injuries were reported.
St. John police requested assistance from the Lake County Sheriff's Department accident reconstruction team because of the severity of the injuries, Kveton said. Further details about the crash were not immediately available.
