LINCOLN TWP. - Newton County sheriff's officers were dispatched around 8:41 a.m. Saturday in reference to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Ind. 55 and County Road 900, about a mile south of Ind. 10, according to a news release.

Preliminary investigation determined a 2005 Toyota passenger car, driven by a 16-year-old Lake Village male, was traveling east on County Road 900 when he failed to yield the right of way to a 2004 Honda passenger car, driven by a 17-year-old Morocco female, traveling north on Ind. 55.

Both drivers and two juvenile passengers in the Toyota were transported to Riverside Hospital. They are being treated for minor injuries, according to the release.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Newton County EMS, Lincoln Township Fire Department, Keener Township Fire Department, Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Village Motors.

The crash remains under investigation.
