HAMMOND, IN - Beth Groff, age 74, life long resident of Hammond, passed away on Monday, July 9 at St. Anthony Village in Crown Point. Beth was a teacher for 43 years, including 39 years teaching Special Education in the Hammond School System, at many schools including Riley, Spohn, Eggers, Lafayette, Wallace, and Morton Elementary. She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hammond serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Parish Board Member and Religious Education Teacher. As a regular blood donor, Beth was honored in 2004 by the American Red Cross as a top donor. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School, Bishop Noll High School, Calumet College (undergrad) and Indiana University (grad).
Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth C. and Robert H. Groff, Sr.
Beth is survived by her siblings: Robert H. Groff, Jr. (Joanne) of Valparaiso, Sue Gutierrez (Bob) of Schererville, George Groff (Liz) of Schererville, and Mary Bodlak (Bill) of Chicago and nephews and niece: Rob Gutierrez (Isa) of Chicago, Michael Gutierrez (Akiko)of Japan, Liam Bodlak of Chicago, and Katie Bodlak of Chicago; plus many friends she met over the years.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday July 15, 2018 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at BURNS-KISH FUNERAL HOME, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. A second visitation will take place on Monday July 16, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, 5310 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN, from 9:30-10:00 a.m. with a Mass to follow with Fr. Stanley Dominik officiating. Interment will be at St. John-St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond, IN.
