PORTAGE, IN - Lee Kenneth Medley, 93, of Portage, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Valparaiso Care and Rehab. He was born June 21, 1924, in Knoxville, TN, to James Edgar and Reva Glenn (Julian) Medley. Lee honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifetime resident of Portage, Indiana and member of Portage Bible Church. Lee was employed for Iron Workers Local #395 as an iron worker for 65 years.
On December 3, 1951, in Hammond, Indiana, he married his wife, Evelyn Mary Medley, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, James and Roy Medley; sons, Kent and Mark Medley; and grandsons, Christopher Harper and Matthew Medley. Surviving are his daughter, Connie (Ted) Harper of Wanatah; son, Lee (Debra) Medley of Indianapolis; sisters, Trula Dutton of Knoxville, TN and Ina Clark of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-law, Betty Medley of TN; grandchildren, Greg (Barbara) Medley of Chesterton, Missy (Jimmy) Engle of Hazard, KY, Aaron (Becky) Medley of South Haven, Brian Medley of San Antonio, TX; Melanie Mills of Hanna; and Jeff Medley of Indianapolis.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Portage Bible Church, 2748 Willowdale Rd., Portage, with Pastor Ronald Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Graceland Cemetery Chapel, 1505 E. Morthland Dr., Valparaiso. Military Honors will follow visitation at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
