MONROE, NC - Mary Lynette Johnson, 58, of Monroe, NC, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Carolina Healthcare System Union Hospital, Monroe, NC. She was born January 16, 1960, in Valparaiso, IN to Clyde and Betty (Coleman) Dugger. Mary worked in dietary at Porter Memorial Hospital for 15 plus years. She enjoyed fishing and dredging for gold in North Carolina with her husband. Mary formerly loved to travel. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
On December 8, 1978, in Valparaiso, IN, she married Geordia Johnson III, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Jeremy Johnson of Monroe, NC; six siblings, Alvin (Sharon Cravens) Swinefurth of Elwood, IN, David (Denise) Swinefurth of Terre Haute, IN, Mike (Sharon Wolf) Dugger of Grand Forks, ND, Debra Rhodes and Patty Dugger both of Sullivan, IN and Janet Dugger of Farmersburg, IN; two grandchildren, Logan Johnson and Cody Schmitt; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at LAKEVIEW FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte. Visitation and viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
