VALPARAISO — A juvenile was arrested following an online threat to Valparaiso High School on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Valparaiso police were notified of the threat and immediately identified the juvenile, who is not a Valparaiso Community Schools student, according to a news release from the Valparaiso Police Department.
The juvenile was arrested, charged with intimidation and detained at the Porter County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the statement.
An alert was sent out by Valparaiso Community Schools administration to parents Friday morning about the incident. The alert indicated the arrest was made Thursday evening.
"The school is safe for operations as the police continue to investigate," the alert stated.
This was the third threat involving Valparaiso High School since the beginning of the school year.
