Kankakee Valley Historical Society meeting Tuesday

KOUTS — The Kankakee Valley Historical Society wants input from the public. There will be a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kouts Library, 101 Daumer Road.

The group was awarded a planning grant for the Collier Lodge Restoration Project.

KVHS will be undertaking an adaptive management planning process to find direction and roles for the future KVHS. The founding members envisioned the society as encompassing more than the Collier Lodge; rather a diverse interest group that encompasses the full history, culture, and biology of the Kankakee Valley.

This initial meeting will be about membership, the public and what roles KVHS might provide for the community. The evening will open with “When I Was a Kid” as Sarah Miller paints a picture of the Collier Lodge Site with her childhood memories followed by a brief video: “Polling Down The River.”

Refreshments will be served. Call Tammy Patterson at (219) 921-4508 or  tpatterson@usgs.gov or Mary Hodson at mhodson09@gmail.com.
