VALPARAISO — Maggie Clifton has been named the city's new community engagement director.
"This newly-created position grew out of the city’s ValpoNEXT Vision Plan and will help to further connect neighborhoods and advance inclusion in our community, building partnerships and uniting people," said Mayor Jon Costas in a news release. "We’re looking forward to having someone with Maggie’s expertise in this exciting new role."
Clifton will relocate from Brownsburg, Indiana, where she has served as public policy manager and state employees’ campaign coordinator for Indiana United Ways. She earned her bachelor's degree in social work from Ball State University.

The city’s redevelopment commission has committed more than $350,000 in funding for neighborhood incentives that will reward improvements to neighborhoods, under the direction of the director of community engagement.
