PORTAGE — The City Council unanimously approved joining the Shared Ethics Advisory Commission recently.

Cal Bellamy said by approving the interlocal agreement, the city will join 22 other communities in Northwest Indiana on the commission.

The commission provides ethics training for city employees. Three Portage employees will receive training through the commission. In turn, those employees will train other city personnel. Training will also be available for department superintendents and members of city boards and commissions.

Bellamy said the funds are used for training purposes and supplies.
