PORTAGE — Porter Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Thode announced plans to seek a fifth term next year.

The Republican oversees a court of general jurisdiction handling both civil and criminal cases, according to his prepared announcement.

Thode, who is a former county deputy prosecutor, said he has presided over more than 240,000 cases since 1995 and has consistently operated under budget, resulting in thousands of dollars in savings to Porter County residents.

Thode was recognized in 2016 by the Judicial Conference of Indiana for his 24 years of outstanding service to the cause of justice as a Judicial Officer of the State of Indiana, according to his news release.

He is a former chairman of the Indiana Judicial Center Court Management Committee and currently sits as a member of the Indiana Office of Court Services’ Special Courts Committee, he said. Thode is also a past president of the Porter County Bar Association.
